BluegrassPreps.com and the Kentucky News Network are once again working together to promote high school football in Kentucky.

We are currently taking nominations for the BGP/KNN player of the week! The player of the week can be from any team and is based on game performance from this weekend.

Please submit your nomination in this thread and provide as much background/stats/information as possible from their game this week.

Also, from host Al Mayo:

Hey folks--it's been great using all the nominees (last year) week after week on the show, and we'll continue to use them for the foreseeable future. I wanted to remind you of a couple things. When you nominate a player, I need his height, weight, and class designation (Freshman, Sophomore, Etc). I also need the stats to be correct. Just telling me it looked like he ran for over a hundred yards won't do it. Please include all pertinent numbers like carries, pass attempts, completions, yardage gained, number of tackles--you all understand what I need. Otherwise, I have to track these numbers down. Not that I mind doing the legwork, but I normally save this part of the show for last, so I can take nominees until the last possible hour, so I just don't have the time to look it all up. I'll usually pull the information from here by Thursday afternoon, so try to have your candidates nominated by about 2:00pm Thursdays. I couldn't be happier with the information you've all provided, and I'm looking forward to continuing our association with BGP!

KNN High School Scoreboard Show

Let me be the first to get on the board for this week and nominate Bethlehem's Billy Jackson (6'1" 215 lb. Sr.). Billy ran for 18 carries, 305 yards, 5 TD's (runs of 5, 13, 70, 87, and 25 yds.) in a 49-19 thumping of Kentucky Country Day in Louisville.

Ashland's Jr. RB Matt Thomas 6'1 190 - 18 carries 174 yards 3 TD's - 1 Reception 12 yards - One INT ret 80 yards for a TD. Plus 11 tackles on D. 4 Total TD's in a 35-12 win over previously undefeated Portsmouth West (OH).

Ty Sparks 5'9 160 RB Tates Creek Jr. 24 carries 222 yards 2 TD's. Including the game winning one. In Tates Creek's 26-13 win against Nelson Co.

I second the nomination for Matt Thomas

This Weeks KNN Scoreboard/Bluegrass Preps.com Player Of The Week is Trigg County sophomore running back Brandon Bridges. Brandon ran for 273 yards on 22 carries and scored on touchdown runs of 35, 30, 18, and 58 yards against Hopkins County Central.

Bring on this week's nominees!

South Laurel's QB Ricky Bowling 5-10 165lb Soph.

Against Southwestern was 21 for 29 passing with 261yds and 6 touchdowns no interceptions. The young man has great scrambling ability and is always looking downfield.

Another nominee from that same game has to go to Logan Baker 6-1 165lb Jr. who had 7 receptions for 108yds and four touchdowns.

I was impressed with both these young men.
