Louisville & Va Tech each have to pay $25k as part of Wakey Leaks. Where does the money go?

 

Is the check written to the ACC or another org? Does the ACC use this for advertising/events or general operating expenses? Will the money ultimately benefit Louisville & Va Tech sports programs anyway (which I don’t have a prob with)?

 

I wonder the same about any sports fine – professional teams, pro coaches or pro players. Who is the payee and what is the money used for?

 

It would be nice if it went to charity.

I know that in the pros a lot of times the fines go to charity. Not sure about colleges.

The fine money received from Virginia Tech and Louisville will go into the Weaver-James-Corrigan Postgraduate Scholarship account, according to the ACC.

"The Weaver-James-Corrigan postgraduate scholarships are awarded to selected student-athletes who intend to pursue a graduate degree following completion of their undergraduate requirements. Each recipient will receive $5,000 toward his or her graduate education. Those honored have performed with distinction in both the classroom and their respective sport, while demonstrating exemplary conduct in the community."

So what happens to Army since the ACC can't fine them?
