You can expect some light snow that should change over to rain around 7 pm ET.The temperature should rise over night to the low to mid 30s. by Saturday morning. As the temps rise the light snow could change over to freezing rain/drizzle with an possible accumulations from around .03-.07 in the Indianapolis are before it becomes all rain. Saturday mainly light rain/showers till afternoon with highs in the low 50s. The temps will fall during the later afternoon or early evening into the high to mid 20s by Saturday evening. Overnight Saturday into Sunday morning the precipitation looks to redevelop. Snow accumulation from around .05-1" from Indianapolis to southern Indiana by Sunday morning. It's around the Louisville area where you will see the worst problem. The Louisville area could have around 2" of snow on the ground by 2 pm. The precipitation should be ending in the Louisville area by Sunday evening with maybe some flurries.

Reason I'm asking is I can set up a weather alert area for wherever they are and I'd get any weather alerts, advisories or warnings for as long as they are there. Let me know if you are interested. Doesn't take me but a couple of minutes to do it. These are the same alerts that the NWS puts out to radio and tv stations and Emergency Management.

December 15, 20169 yr Author No major changes to the outlook for the trip. Sunday may see some light freezing rain traveling back to Indianapolis. I will update again tomorrow unless there is a major change.
December 16, 20169 yr Author Today they main see some scattered showers that may turn into snow showers/flurries around Indianapolis no accumulations expected. Saturday should be ok for traveling weather wise also . Saturday maybe some scatter showers into Saturday night. That is when a problem may start occurring. Around 11 pm Saturday night the rain looks to turn into freezing rain/drizzle. This should be light amounts of accumulations in the Indianapolis area. Around Louisville the amounts look to be a little more. From around .30-.43 accumulations of freezing rain by around 5 am Sunday morning.
