Anyone use pond/lake or stream water for their home water supply ?

Was going to have well dug but it appears I might be able to use a pond on the property and buy a purification system for cheaper than the well , and I'd sure I'd have to treat the well water anyway . I am mainly talking about having water to shower/ laundry/ flush and cook with , I can buy bottled H20 for drinking.

I'd recommend getting a polar water service of some kind. That's what we did.
