November 2, 20169 yr Author John McSherry. John was the first base umpire at my very first Reds' game back in 1971. Miss him. Good umpire.
November 2, 20169 yr Author Isn't Eric Gregg the umpire that died during the game? Haven't heard his name in forever but rings a bell. Big Eric died, but not during a game. What I remember most about Gregg was just what a horrible umpire he was, especially behind the plate. He held the title of worst-ever in my book until the lame-changer, C.V. Buckner, came along.
