October 20, 20169 yr Maybe but how many of those 50% educate themselves before making that decision? I don't like when someone just doesn't vote because they're too lazy to put the work in. I agree, we've been brainwashed into a two party system and let these parties take over the political landscape. They reality is we do have other options. I'm honestly not sure how anyone in good conscience could cast a vote for Donald or Hilary.
October 20, 20169 yr Drives me crazy. My Dad tells me I'm wasting my vote because I'm voting for a 3rd party nominee (again) because he has no chance at winning. My response is always the same. Should we not vote for the candidate that most closely aligns with our own beliefs on the issues? To which he responds, well he can't win. I didn't realize voting for the winner was the goal of elections. :idunno: That's what everyone I talk to says. Maybe if everyone took a look at the options and really voted the way you say, he would have a chance. You don't get a prize for voting for the winner.

I didn't realize voting for the winner was the goal of elections. :idunno: I have gotten the same response from others when I have voted third party in the past. I just can't follow that logic. Even if you live in a battleground state, your one individual vote statistically has a zero percent (rounded from whatever mininscule number it actually is) chance of affecting the election at all. The rational act for any individual should actually be to not vote and use your time doing something else. With that said, I have never missed an election and will always choose the candidate I feel most aligns with my views weighted with how important certain issues are to me. I don't ever feel like my personal vote is going to win a race, but it a small way that my opinions are added to the collective pot.
