Great day for a softball game, especially when it involves Alum. Today the NewCath fastpicth team welcomed back alum from the slowpitch & fastpitch teams to play in what is now going to be an annual Alumni Game (slowpitch). Players who took the field ranged from 1977 (OLP) grad Karen (Dunn) O'Hara to 2015 grads Loren Zimmerman and Kristen Schreiber.

 

Some of these ladies can still play some ball, as there was some exceptional glove work and throwing. On the offensive side, three of the best in NewCath slowpitch and fastpitch history went "big time" yard, NewCath HOF'er and 2001 State Tournament MVP, Amy Meyers ('01), Stephanie Reckers ('07), and Kristen Schreiber ('15).

 

After the game everyone in attendance was treated to eats and drinks courtesy of the NewCath fastpitch program.

 

At least one member of NewCath's 5 State Championship teams ('84, '97, '99, '00', & '01) were in attendance. Coaches on the field today included, Jenny Mertle (381-107 & 4 State Titles), Doug "Rat" Reckers, Jerry Lantry, Tom Bankemper, & Greg Ziegler.
