Final

A few observations.... Marshall Co is a very talented and deep team and there star jr rb - Alan Williams is a stud...he can carry a team by himself, but doesn't have too because they can mis the run and pass very well.. if they have a weakness, it's in there kicking and punting game...

Mayfield will look back on this game and see a fumble at the marshall 1 yd line, giving up a 55 yd punt return as time was running out in the 1st half and another critical fumble in the red zone in the 3rd qtr and use these things to build on later in the season..If theres such a thing as a good loss, this would probably be one..

This was a heck of a game. Congrats to Marshall on the win. Coach Lawson of is a class act. could have scored at the end but took a knee. Mayfield's offense looked better this week and they moved the ball pretty good against a very good Marshall D. The Williams kid is the real deal and if there is another JR running back in the state better I would like to see him.

's depth and Mayfield's turnovers was the difference in this game. Marshall Players looked fresh all during the game.

I really think this Mayfield team will be special by the end of the year. They didn't quit when they got down and they played with a lot of heart.

First let me say congrats to Marshall County for coming in and knocking off the Cards at War Memorial Stadium...Alan Williams is a great back and got 90% of his yards after first contact. The Cards looked much better on offense tonight and a very gutsy effort by Mayfield Friday night. Granted the fumble on the 1-yard line after the great 90-yard run by the freshman running back for Mayfield Tyrese Murrell was a heartbreaker...but the numbers game eventually won out Friday night as Marshall County did not have a single starter go both ways while Mayfield had 6-7 guys going both ways and the cramps really got to the Cards due to the lack of depth and still very humid conditions. I was very impressed with the O-line from Mayfield as they gave Shelton time to throw the ball...there was just times there was no one open. But a gutsy effort by the Mayfield players as the ones with cramps all tried to gut through the pain but in the end the numbers, and a very good Marshall County team, won out in the end. Too bad this game was not played a few weeks later in more traditional football weather as I think fans would have seen a classic. The best of luck to the Marshalls this year as they are a class act and have a great team...and I truly believe this Cards team will be ALOT better than what most people had them pegged to be before the season started...

Once again Congrats to Marshall county and goold luck to both teams the rest of the season.

I agree with all the statements mentioned above, this Cardinal team has nothing to be ashamed of. There was just some tough fumbles for Mayfield that could have kept them in this game but in the end Marshall won the game.

This team has nothing to be worried about until deep in 1A this year IMO. Stinks that Mayfields tougher games can't wait until cooler times. At least we don't have to travel for these up coming games.
