Dixie Heights 30 Beechwood 29 (Scrimmage)

Featured Replies

Dixie and Beechwood played 3 quarters of live game conditions football - except kick off returns. Each team returned one kickoff live and the rest were live to the catch.

Both teams need to work on defense. Too many big plays given up by both teams. Dixie's defense did play well in the red zone, stopping Beechwood on four different possessions on downs inside the 20.

Dixie almost exclusively ran the ball. They are back to their offense from 2 years ago with even less passing. I don't believe they completed one pass down field and only threw perhaps 6 or 7, mostly bubble screens. Torres, Barrett and Barker all made nice runs for Dixie.

Beechwood's first year QB Burch threw some nice passes including a 60 yard TD strike. Justice looked very good running the ball and catching it when lined up as wide receiver. James Davis also had some nice runs for Beechwood. Logan Castleman ran Beechwood's one kickoff return back for an 80 yard TD and made several nice catch and run plays.

Following the varsity game, one quarter of JV action was played with Beechwood winning 16-0.

Excellent summary Eye.

Beechwood and BGP are lucky to have you.

My pleasure. I enjoy my Tigers and sharing the success of the young men who work so hard.

Looks like the young, inexperienced Tigers are holding their own. They get a big test in their opener next week against Lloyd.

I'm not familiar with history has Lloyd beat Beechwood before?

Last time Lloyd beat Beechwood was in 2002 .... 34-16. I am not sure when the time before that might be that Lloyd beat Beechwood.

Beechwood has won the last 6 times they have played Lloyd, and is 11-1 versus Lloyd since 1998.

Thanks. Tiger doing well and putting points up. There are a lot of solid seniors on this team. I still think defensively they will be very solid..

Beechwood has 3 seniors who were starters last year and a couple more who got playing time. This is a really inexperienced team. It is good to see them playing well against a couple big schools in these scrimmages.

Let me clear my throat...." Wait, come on guys.....just a lil more time fellas! The original 3 quarters was bunk...

Way to be Colonels! Both teams are moving in the right direction!!!

I agree but they do have valuable experience returning to help a young team be successful..
