Seriously? "Final".....no commentary?

Work prohibited me from being there.....need my fix GPull.

Heard Crusaders have a young Soph Super stud named Litzler (sp?) Did CCH bracket him all game to shut him down? Probably the only way to contain him. IMHO

CCH should have had a few more but nice first game for the defending champs in beating a senior laden St. Henry team. Too many free kicks given up via dumb fouls by CCH.

CCH dominated first half, St Henry came out second half with more determination and got got one back. CCH went deep into their bench this game, pretty sure every field player played numerous minutes. Looked like St Henry did not go nearly as deep.

CCH looked to be much more athletic, much faster. Both teams have some nice soccer players. Fair result. Not sure what effect this result has moving forward, but I did notice the cch players walking off the field almost appeared to not be happy with this result, in my mind thats a good thing.

I agree it was a fair result. CCH needs to capitalize on some more of those opportunities. Would like to see the stats on shots for each team. I thought the game was well officiated with a balance of letting them play a hard, physical game while keeping it under control.

I am curious as to what happened on the St. Henry goal late in the game. It appeared to have been flagged for offsides maybe and was nullified but then it was changed back to a goal after some St. Henry protests but I'm not sure.

CCH has to be pleased with the result given that they played pretty much their entire bench. Offensively they need some work but the back four were solid. Schutt and Blom in the midfield also played well I thought.

I didn't see the game but there has been a point of emphasis this year that when a defender makes a play on the ball and touches it the offensive player is now back on side. Tough for AR to determine a deflection or play made on the ball.Center can than determine the offside.

That may have been what happened but the reversal seemed to only occur after some blown gaskets on the St. Henry side but that's just what I could see from the sideline.

It appeared the AR put his flag up right away to signal offsides. I believe the center over ruled, likely due to exactly what imsays. And I agree the center and his crew did a nice job in this game.

And I should clarify a comment I made in an earlier post on this thread. Saying some of "the cch players walking off the field after the game appeared to not be happy with the result." Is directed at "not being happy" with the way they played, specifically in the second half. I'm sure they liked getting an earlier season win vs a quality opponent. But a team unsatisfied with a so so performance is always a good sign in my book.

Saturday's final CCH Vs KY Country Day could be a very good game, good early test for both teams.

I only saw the first half of the game, but from what I saw I'm certain both teams can play at a much higher level. I know, I know -- its early, lots of players getting minutes, plenty of time to raise the bar.

On the positive, lots of players stepping up for CCH looked solid/comfortable. Deimling's technical ability was impressive, Blom did a nice job in midfield, and I thought #2 (Russo?) looked good at outside back.

I'm sure CCH defending made it difficult, but St Henry didn't look very connected in the first half, particularly between the midfield and Sanders, who stayed fairly high. St Henry looked like they got plenty of players in the game first half. Did they shorten the bench second half?

Russo should end up being a pleasant surprise for CCH, he can be used anywhere on the back four, is also a nice midfield player. I think he could have started for any other school in NKY last year.

He played a good game and yes, he could be used in midfield as well. What I've seen the last few years from CCH is they like attacking style players as outside backs and Russo fits that mold. He made several nice overlapping runs last night but was not rewarded with the ball.

They have apparently made the decision to keep Cole Stava as a center back as opposed to be used at striker. Stava/Michael Vogt in the middle and Russo and Johnny Dietz on the outside will form a very solid defense for CCH. Hopefully Russo and Dietz get forward more and more as the year moves on.

CCH current junior and sophomore class has a few really talented, technically skilled players that also play at a very high level on the club side. At least two that I'm aware (maybe more) have been on club teams that have won multiple State Cups/have Regional experience. Add the core of talented and experienced seniors, once they begin to settle into a consistent roration, get more comfortable playing together this team could be playing well into late Oct/early Nov. And the future looks bright for the next few yrs, a solid, very fast and athletic junior class, talent and depth at the sophomore class, and some nice upcoming talent in the freshman class. I'm not aware of another NKY team that has this much talent and depth at all 4 current classes.

The closest group I am aware of is right across the street.

St Henry has a similar team core----with players that have state cup/regional experience, likely on the same club team with their CCH rivals.
