Curious to hear everyone's thoughts on football scrimmages. Do most schools play the same opponent every pre-season? If things are changed up from year to year, how does a school determine who might be best for them to scrimmage in order to be most beneficial for their team?

Beechwood has played Conner as their opening scrimmage for a long time. Same format every year. Beechwood always plays two scrimmages. The second opponent has changed over the years. The second scrimmage is usually a game conditions format. Beechwood scrimmages challenging opponents. The goal is to test the players, see who does what well and make changes needed before the opening regular season game. A lot of players are tried in different roles to see how they respond. Winning is a secondary goal in scrimmages.

Why always Conner? just curious. How do they determine who to play against in that second scrimmage? is it based on level of talent or what type of season they think they might have
