Here's my question from the other night and I thought I'd put it out to you guys as well. Rockcastle is ranked higher in most polls over Southwestern. After Saturday night do you feel they should as well? Rockcastle won over Corbin 2-0 and last season lost to Danville by 30. Southwestern won over Corbin last season 13-7 I believe and this season lost to Danville 33-30. These two teams don't play this season but my question for all is are these two teams evenly matched or is one in you opinion better than the other?

Using scores from last season's games to compare this year's teams is not much of a system. Even using scores from common opponents in the same year can be deceiving. At this point, only one game, Rockcastle probably deserves to be ranked ahead of SW. They beat a ranked 2A school while SW lost to a ranked 1A school. Both were close games but with only one game to go on 1-0 trumps 0-1. As for who is truly better, that may well be a different story altogether, give it a few more games.

LTW, it isn't where you start in these polls that convince the pollsters of your pre-season ranking it is where you end up. Rock losing to Danville in the Bob Allen Classic had about as much bearing on Rock's pre-season ranking as their scrimmage with Bryan Station last year. Rock went 11-3 and played nip and tuck with the state champs for 3 quarters. Southwestern was beaten in the 1st round. I would love nothing more than for Southwestern and Rock t omeet up in the Ville' two common opponents that are rival teams that are located near each other and I'm sure cammando would love it as well. For the time being rankings mean squat anyway.

Have to wait until later to see who is better.
