Ok, keep the 103 but add another class. Make 15 classes or maybe even 16 classes. Teams like Woodford Co. LaRue Co. South Oldham, Wayne Co., Sheldon Clark... would love to see the weight classes realigned to let more wrestlers participate. One problem that I know happens alot is having 4 or 5 good wrestlers that can go up or down 1 class that have to wrestle jv, because they are behind 3 or 4 year wrestlers at each of the classes they can wrestle at. I love wrestling, it is my favorite sport, I just want what is best for the sport.

I don't know about the others, but some years LaRue Co. has really had to hit the hallways to get kids to come out and fill all the slots. My senior year we had 4 first year seniors that were starters. All were great athletes and it would have been amazing to see what they would have done with more experience. But nonetheless we really had to talk some kids into wrestling!

Or the nfhs could be like the ufc and have only 5 weight classes.

New to this forum, so I don't even know the weight classes in KY.

 

When I wrestled MANY years ago in Maryland, the lightest class was 98. Went up to 100 in January and another pound to 101 in February. Same with all other classes except heavy; a 2-pound bump after the Christmas holidays and another pound bump in February.

Weight classes are determined by NFHS rules. They should be the same for all high schools across the country.
