IMO varsity experience isn't a must.

I guess you & your head coach (your boss) are disappointed that you guys aren't considered a front runner in this process? Varsity "experience" is overrated. Plenty of qualified candidates that have never coached a HS game.

Disagree....in no way should a Varsity Head Coach have never coached a high school game. That is a huge risk for a school to take that kind of chance.

 

Interesting shot you took at whomever you were referring to....has an edge all it's own.

Maybe i am confused, but I am pretty sure that the varsity coach at the program where you coached, applied for this job. And, it would seem reasonable, that if the coach got the job, you would be part of the staff. If you wouldn't, fine.

 

On the idea of having varsity experience, I don't think it is a necessity. There are plenty of qualified coaches, who have coached games outside of a HS team. Whether you are coaching HS or little league, you still have parent issues, grade issues, commitment issues, player issues, political issues, and basketball strategy issues. Besides, every HS coach was a "rookie" at some point, and got hired without coaching a HS game.

I have no idea who applied and who didn't apply. My question simply asked if any of the Bluegrasspreps front runners had any Varsity experience. "Do any of the front runners have varsity experience?" There are a lot of qualified candidates for coaching positions who don't have Varsity experience. Guess that would be up to the AD to decide if that was important.
