Conner beat the JV Birds 8-4 in an exciting game to watch. Cougar pitchers threw hard and effective. Cougars had a lot enthusiasm and hit the ball hard.

 

Birds started with Griffin Leighty on the hump and relieved with Grant Summers and Rob Gabbard. Birds hitting leaders were Cole Kendle, Sam Hennigan, Cooper Schwalbach, and Grady Cramer each with 1rbi. Birds continue with timely hitting. Birds defense played early season ball with too many errors.

 

S/O to Joe Steiden making another awesome play in left field. Nobody in HP thought he would get to it but he robbed another hitter. He plays hard!

 

I believe we had @Clyde as an umpire. He does a good job even thou every bang bang play went the Cougars way! Just kidding!:lol:

Manny was the starter. I don't know his last name. He played summer ball for At The Yard but I heard he doesn't play for them anymore. #8 or #9 closed for Conner.

I'm sure you're referring to Manny Henschen. Seen him pitch a couple times last year. Throws hard and has good command of his off-speed pitches. Saw on the PBR website he had a good showing at one of their recent showcases. He had a KY Colonel hat on for his profile picture.

I was told last night that Manny touched 81 mph during Wednesday's game. That's bringing it for a sophomore!

Nice to see a couple freshman for the Birds excel in Schwalbach and Cramer. You put Ziegler in there and you have 3 of the best freshman baseball players in NKY.
