Allen County Scottsville 14 Highlands 3

Featured Replies

Allen County took full control of this game and took care of business early. Highlands not playing its best but it's still early.

You're right about Highlands not playing their best. However, they did play this weekend without Graybill (in two games), Barth (3rd baseman), Spencer (flu) and they just got 6 of their basketball players back a week and a half ago. They should be fine by mid season.

Graybill did not play against scottsville or Anderson county?

I thought she played both games

Played 3rd (can't catch yet) against Anderson and knee swelled in that game on Friday. Didn't play in either game today.

Who was in the circle if Spencer didn't pitch?

She pitched but you could tell she was struggling at times! Wasn't one of Bailey's stronger outings...

No more Mason or Macke, so who is the back up pitcher, other than Graybill?

Definitely light in the pitching department after a transfer and another leaving the team for personal reasons. Working on other options with our pitching coach. No one really ready for the competition in this tournament.

As for Bailey, Velocity and energy was way down. Bailey was asked to just threw strikes for us. She hasn't eaten since Thursday morning and got sick 4 times on the trip. Kid is a trooper! She'll be back, Graybill will be back and so will Barth. Birds will be just fine and get stronger from this tournament. Very good early test and got a lot of opportunities for the young kids to play and see good softball.

Birds have a nice young athete coming in next year that should be a real nice pitcher in the next couple years. Until she is ready, someone will have the chance to inherit a really nice group of athletes to play behind them with whoever is in the mound.

To answer your question, they also have Chloe Jansen, Morgan Coffey, Ella Greiwe, Abby Rust, Becca Breen and soon to be Zoie Barth working with their D1 pitching coach to get them ready. Some pretty good young athletes in that bunch and should be able pull at least one pitcher from that group!

Definitely some athletes in that bunch mentioned above.

It's REALLY early in the season Bird's fans, no reason to panic.

Agreed
