February 16, 201610 yr Author Did they go over a bridge that was up for something. That was weird. I'm guessing that they were terribly unfamiliar with the area, and as the driver was approaching the bridge didn't realize that it was the type that raised to let boat traffic through below, and made the unfortunate uninformed decision to continue to keep moving forward.

Yea that's what I took from it as well. Just can't understand how that could happen really. Just seems strange.

So far nothing is definite but here's an interesting article discussing that investigators have taken blood samples to check for drugs or alcohol in their system. Were drink or drugs behind 50mph canal death plunge that killed Viola Beach?

They're not certain but of the 5 guys in the car they think that the manager was the driver. It is freaky though why in the world he would've been speeding under the circumstances.
