North and South Laurel Update

Featured Replies

Anybody have any update on how North and South Laurel have been looking in summer practice? When do they have their pre season grid game?

I know we play South Laurel in week 2. We handled North laurel pretty well last year. But, i believe that South Laurel will be a different story.

A 3 point home win on a 15 yard too many players on the field call is "handling NL pretty well"? Whatever.

I need to apologize. I must have got my games mixed up. For some reason I was thinking we won big in that game. I was wrong and I meant no disrespect. I should've used a better choice of words in the first place. Once again, I apologize.

That was the game where North led for nearly the entire contest, Cessna got hurt when NL was up 20-8 in the 3rd quarter, and Mercer came back and won 23-20. Their O'line really just wore NL down by the end of the 4th quarter. Mercer's line was HUGE.

I think the Mercer vs SL game should be a dandy, but as of right now, I would have to pick Mercer in a very close win. I just think that SL lost more than Mercer did, SL has a new head coach and Mercer picks up some great talent from H'burg that could make the difference in this one.

I think that SL is progressing nicely now that they have all their players in from baseball and adjusted back into football. They have Bowling back at QB but lost some very good linemen, their leading rusher & top receivers, as well as one of their anchors on defense in Shenkenfelder.

NL struggled a little bit in their scrimmage with Clay County on Friday, but Asher has been ill and did not get to play, NL was trying a lot of new things on offense without him, and the defense seemed to be missing a lot of tackles. Those are all things that will be corrected when Asher returns and when the coaches get them back into practice on Monday. The Jaguars will be fine. Also, Clay's QB is for real.

Clay looked pretty crisp on offense at times. The only problem I saw with them was they got a bit sloppy on occasion and drew some penalties, as well as a couple of fumbles.
