February 1, 201610 yr Maybe premature but I'm going to go ahead and go into a Severe Weather Alert mode for Tuesday afternoon into the overnight hours. The severe weather threat has increased. Most of Kentucky south of I-64 and west of I-75 is now in an Enhance Chance area for severe storms. The rest of Kentucky north of I-64 and east of I-75 is in a Slight Risk area with eastern Kentucky in a Marginal Risk area. The main threats from these possible storms look to be damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes. Cities in the Enhance Area include. Mayfield, Fulton, Murray, Paducah, Owensboro, Bowling Green, Elizabethtown, Louisville, Nicholasville, Danville, Somerset. I will post updates as soon as I can and I get any new information. Everyone should stay weather aware Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night.
February 2, 201610 yr Author Tuesday morning update. The chance for strong to severe storms still remains for later today. The Enhanced area has been scaled back some. Louisville is no longer considered to be in the Enhanced area but is right on the edge. It is now mainly from the I-65 corridor back towards the west. It is surrounded by a Slight Risk area to about I-75. Most of EKY is in a marginal risk area. The main area of concern looks to be in parts of WKY around the Land between the Lakes area. This area has the best chance of seeing a tornado of two. Some may see some showers are storms earlier in the day this looks to be mainly in WKY. The main threat time looks to be later this afternoon into the night time hours. Damaging winds and a tornado or two is possible in some of the stronger storms. It looks to be mainly a damaging wind threat as the storms progress eastward through Kentucky during the overnight hours. I'll update when I can as we go though the day.
