MOver Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Final. One of the highest-scoring games of the season, and according to KHSAA records, ties for 17th all-time. Mercer County's Lyric Houston scored a game-high 29 and passed the 1,000 point mark.
thunder1 Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Mercer has no size. That's their only problem. If they face a good sized team, its over.
CAP Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Mercer is kind of getting what they deserve by beating teams by 30 and playing starters in the 4th quarter and I am not blaming the players. Mercer has a very good team but when you beat teams like that you get use to it and maybe the effort isn't there against good teams or when you are tested you can't handle it, just my opinion.
maxpressure Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Lol! Mercer has beaten some teams by sizeable amounts but most of those they played everyone. Mercer's schedule is really tough and they are out sized by most teams. THey will be much better by the end of the season with the schedule they are playing. They may have played some starters in some 4th qtr games but most of those are sophomores. It is crazy how people will complain about scores in girls games but never do that with boys scores! Mercer has a really good team and YOUNG at that!
kyhoopfever Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Sorry CAP I disagree with you. Chris Souder is an excellent coach. He has a young group and he is doing what he needs to do to offset his team's lack of ability to defend teams in the half court. If he is only playing the so called starters, it is because the other kids have not shown they can do what he asks.
snow_bird Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 After watching the Butler girls for years, I can tell you that everybody (except Etown) is going to have a hard time beating them. Especially, those that try to force the tempo. That style just plays into their strength. Everyone knows how athletic they are, but they have a fairly deep bench too. You're not going to wear them down and they don't get too out of control.
Cheezy Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 It was a fun game to watch. Lots of offense. Butler is talented and deep. Mercer had some chances but Couldn't get a stop when they needed them. Butler's size and rebounding played the biggest factor I thought. CAP.... It sounds like Mercer may have beat your team by 30 and your in need of a hug.
Drunk Johnny Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Sorry CAP I disagree with you. Chris Souder is an excellent coach. If he is only playing the so called starters, it is because the other kids have not shown they can do what he asks. It would stand to reason that if the other girls have not shown they can do what the coach ask, he would try to get them in the game and get them to develop their skills when Mercer is up by 20, instead of being up 30+ or more, half way through the fourth quarter then sub. What goes around usually comes around. Mercer is a very good team, this is not on the players.
maxpressure Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 He plays 9-10 players on a regular basis and dresses like 12 kids so who are you all talking about? Who is he suppose to put in? They only have one senior and the rest are primarily sophomores.

MOver Posted January 13, 2016 Author Posted January 13, 2016 Am I missing something? Ties for 17th all-time in what way? 171 points scored by two teams is tied for the 17th most in a single game in state history, per KHSAA.
Pete Mitchell Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 171 points scored by two teams is tied for the 17th most in a single game in state history, per KHSAA. That surprises me. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
