Who will play up ... and why?

Featured Replies

Which schools would seriously consider "playing up" if the current six-class proposal is adopted?

In western Kentucky, I suspect that Mayfield will seriously consider it. I'm guessing that the prospect of renewing rivalries with Caldwell County, Heath and Trigg County and keeping its series with Murray is more appealing to the Cardinals and their fans than a district schedule consisting of Ballard Memorial, Fulton County and Fulton City. Plus, the prospect of long travel in the Class A playoffs (quarterfinals in Louisville, semifinals in northern Kentucky) may weigh in 2A's favor.

Who else is there? I'm sure Highlands will give it a long look.

Highlands and Beechwood in Nky. If Mayfield leaves, I can't see the Beechies staying. Maybe that is why they have more teams in 1A then any other class right now. Maybe they fully expect that those two will want to move up.

If those two move up, 2A is gonna be loaded!
