Holiday hoops aplenty on tap

Suncoast Holiday Classic

Covington Catholic of Park Hills, Kentucky, will return to the Suncoast Holiday Tournament Dec. 28-30 at Riverview High School in Sarasota.

The 2013 champion is one of eight teams competing in the three-day event. Covington Catholic is matched up against North Port, the team it defeated 65-43 for the title, in the opening round at 3 p.m. Dec. 28, the first game of the event.

At 4:30 p.m., Cardinal Mooney will take on St. Petersburg Lakewood, at 6 p.m., Booker will play Fort Myers and at 7:45 p.m., the host Rams will tangle with Miami Hialeah.

The semifinals will be held Dec. 29 while the championship game and the consolation finals will be played Dec. 30.

Last year, Orlando Oak Ridge, led by former Cardinal Mooney player and current LSU freshman Antonio Blakeney’s 42 points, captured the title with a 76-60 victory over Riverview.

There will be no live streaming of the game or stat updates. If you can find a Colonel fan that went to Florida with the team you may be able to see updates on Facebook.

Starting line up for CCH was AJ Mayer, Cole Vonhandorf, Andy Flood, Aiden Ruthsatz and CJ Fredrick.

So this is 3 sophomores, 1 Junior and Flood the lone Sr correct?
