Morgan County 56 Highlands 50 (Swauger Tourney)

Featured Replies

Highlands will play loser of Newport/Mcgregor out of Canada......so I would assume they will play the Canadian team tomorrow.

Tough start for the Birds cost them a potential victory in this one. Morgan County came out of the gate and blitzed the Birds with full court pressure to go on top 11-0. Score at end of 1 was 19-8. Once Highlands settled down and let the game come to them rather than trying to force what was not there, they battled back to take a lead in the 3rd quarter. Some untimely turnovers, missed shots and missed free throws allowed Morgan County to stretch lead back to 7 only to see Birds come back again, but in the end Morgan County hit their free throws and came away victorious.

Kids again played hard and tough for Kevin and they just need one to go their way and get the monkey off their backs. There are still some things to work on for each and every player, but one thing you cannot fault is the effort that they are putting forth as well as the unwillingness to give up. They battled to the end and made Morgan County earn that victory.

Next up is McGregor out of Canada at 2 PM today.

Highlands played with hustle and heart. Easy to forget it was just their second game. They'll improve quickly.
