The Scott Eagles escape the "hill" with a hard fought victory tonight.....http://bluegrasspreps.com/ky-girls-basketball/newport-central-catholic-318904.html

This one was the "tale of two halves", as NewCath held a 5 point led at the break. The Eagles get the led early in the 3rd and never look back, although the Breds would get the margin down to one. However, they just could not get the key basket to push them in front.

Things got real interesting in the final minutes though.........Scott has two players all alone under their own basket and misses a FOR SURE lay-up to "ice" the game with :05.7 remaining. NewCath calls timeout to set up the final play, but the 3pt. attempt, which looked good, just misses.

The Breds will be kicking themselves thinking about this loss, as they missed umteen gimmes/lay-ups, I'm guessing at least 15. To be fair, the Eagles had some as well, but not nearly as many.

Breds gave a great effort to almost pull it off.

Very impressed with Anna Clephane for Scott, the young lady had one hell of a game. :ylsuper:

Great updates! Checked in often while waiting for my flight.

In the first half NCC looked very good hitting back door cuts and moving toward the basket. Eagles looking flustered at times and while ball movement was good spent too much time moving around the perimeter in the 1st half with little movement toward the basket. 2nd half a different story as NCC packed the baseline and the arc allowing Clephane Dant and Stapleton to find space at or inside the foul line. For easy drop ins. Defensively the Eagles found their defensive "feet" in the 2nd half and made NCC really work for their openings contesting multiple layups as Franxman and Dant racked a couple of blocked shots.

Nice Win Lady Eagles ! :thumb:

Sounds like a good one..congrats to Scott for the Win
