12th Region Rankings 12/7/15

 

 

1) Mercer County (3-0) -The Titans manhandled Shelby Co. 78-34, but had one come down to the wire vs a good South Laurel team in the Legacy Nissan Classic winning 52-51. On Saturday they beat Grant Co. 82-59 to start the season 3-0. Through 3 games, the Titans brought balanced scoring with Hagar averaging 17.0, Faulkner 15.0, James 14.3, and Dow 11.7 points per game. Dow leads the team in rebounds with 11.3 and James is averaging 6.7. This week the Titans travel to Rockcastle Co. and Casey Co. for their first 12th Region competition of the young season.

 

2) Wayne County (1-0) - The Cardinals started the season with a 70-50 win over Whitley Co. This week will be a challenge for the Cardinals starting with Lincoln Co. at home on Tuesday and Southwestern at home on Friday. They will then travel to Manchester to face Lafayette on Saturday in the Bobby Keith Classic.

 

3) Southwestern (1-0) - The Warriors defeated Apollo in the Legacy Nissan Classic 63-50. Steven Fitzgerald was named player of the game. The Warriors play at home tonight against Casey Co. then travel to Wayne Co. Friday night to open 48th District play.

 

4) West Jessamine (3-0) - The Colts start the season with 3 wins in week 1 of the regular season. They defeated Tates Creek 68-48, Franklin Co. 59-56, and Model 88-54. Siah Hollifield scored 25 points in the victory over Tates Creek. The Colts have 3 more games scheduled this week playing at home vs Danville Tuesday night, at North Oldham Friday, and play Cooper on Saturday in the Asbury University High School Basketball Shootout.

 

5) Pulaski County (0-0) - The Maroons will start their season on December 8th at McCreary Central and play again Friday night at Casey County. The football players for the Maroons will trade in their cleats for high tops after finishing runner-up in the football 5A state finals this past weekend.

 

6) Casey County (2-0) - The Rebels start the season with victories over Clinton Co. 80-66 and Caverna 96-84. Jacob Smith had a big opening game vs Clinton Co. scoring 24 points and bringing down 12 boards. In the game vs Caverna, DJ White scored 31 points and had 12 rebounds in the win. This week the Rebels have 4 games scheduled playing at Southwestern tonight, Mercer Co. Dec. 10th, Pulaski Co. Dec. 11th, and at Knox Central Dec. 12th.

 

7) Boyle County (2-0) - The Rebels get 2 wins to start the season with victories over Woodford Co. 53-46 and Spencer Co. 59-52. In those 2 games, Colton Elkins is averaging 21 points and 17 rebounds. This week the Rebels will play East Jessamine at home on Tuesday and at Knox Central Friday night.

 

8) Lincoln County (2-1) - The Patriots lost their opening game to Lafayette 67-81 but win 2 games over 12th Region competition with victories over Rockcastle Co. 61-45 and Somerset 65-52. Lincoln travels to Wayne Co. Tuesday night and play again Dec. 12th at Bourbon Co.

 

9) Danville (0-0) - The Admirals will start their season Tuesday night at West Jessamine. They will play at McCreary Central Dec. 11th and their home opener is Saturday night Dec. 12th vs Spencer Co.

 

10) Garrard County (2-1) - The Golden Lions Beat Anderson Co. 80-76 to start their season. They were defeated by Frankfort 39-55 and beat Nicholas Co. 67-40. Nick McCullum is averaging 21.3 points and 8.7 rebounds for the Golden Lions. Garrard Co. is on the road this week traveling to Jackson Co. Tuesday, Madison Southern Dec. 10th, and Christian Academy of Louisville Dec. 12th.

 

11) Rockcastle County (2-1) - The Rockets win their first game of the season over Model 64-57. They lost to Lincoln Co. 45-61 and beat Jackson City 85-68. They play at home vs Mercer Co. tomorrow night and then open 47th District play at home vs Somerset Friday Night. They will travel to Barbourville Saturday.

 

12) Somerset (1-1) - The Briar Jumpers defeated Estill County 59-54 to start the season then lost at Lincoln Co. 52-65. The Jumpers play Glasgow at home tomorrow night then travel to Rockcastle Co. Friday night to open 47th District play.

 

13) McCreary Central (1-2) - Lost to Oneida Baptist 56-73, beat Middlesboro 84-50, and lost to Barbourville 45-88 in their first week of play. They play at home this week against Pulaski Co. Tuesday night and Danville Friday.

 

14) East Jessamine (1-2) - The Jaguars got a forfeit win over Sayre but lost to Anderson Co. 51-63 and Conner 86-53. They play at Boyle Co. Tuesday night and then return home to play Ryle on Dec. 11th and Beechwood on Dec. 12th.

 

15) Burgin (2-1) - The Bulldogs won their season opener against St. Francis 71-38. They lost to Calvary Christian 50-51 but got their second win of the week over J Frank White Academy, TN 63-57. Their home opener is tomorrow night vs Model then they travel to Robertson Co. Dec. 12th.

 

16) KY School f/t Deaf (0-3) - Lost all 3 games they played in the XVII Viking Classic. They play Berea Dec. 9th at home then travel to Pennsylvania to play in the Mid-America Classic.

Casey County at Southwestern

Good stuff. I wonder how long it will take for some movement. I can see the top 10 staying like this for a while.

Pretty good for Boyle to get a couple of wins without Robbins. Think Boyle will be hard to beat later on as the sophomore 's get more time under their belt. Robbins is their best defender, best foul shooter and maybe best best scorer outside of Elkins, they could be real good again. Elkins owns the paint, so if you beat Boyle it will have to be on the perimeter.

Good stuff. I wonder how long it will take for some movement. I can see the top 10 staying like this for a while.

Danville does play West Jessamine tonight and I think Casey County plays Pulaski County this week. Wayne County plays Southwestern. Mercer County and Casey County play also. I don't see any results coming from these games that will cause any movement anytime soon.
