Not sure any UofL fan went in realistically expecting to win at MSU. There's a lot of promise with this team.

I hope that settled this part of the argument.

Lee & Lewis - solid talent that has the advantage of being proven commodities (although not at this level) rather than HS "prospects." Add in Snider and I think the backcourt will be a strength.

Onuaku - should be better from his time with the U21 or whatever squad. Needs to improve a bunch and quickly.

Mahmoud - would have liked to see more progress from him. Looks very much like last year's "project." Actually appears to have regressed at the FT line (although small sample).

Johnson - too few minutes to tell anything, but that suggests he hasn't earned any more PT in practice from Pitino

Mitchell - encouraged by his "spark" and creativity

When Deng gets healthy that should be an additional weapon. Pitino will clearly fix the open corner 3 in the defense. It is such a "team concept" that 1 person not understanding or not executing cripples the whole defense.

I told my son if they stayed within 5 at MSU I would be happy. Didn't expect to have that 13 point lead in the 1st half, but that was a combination of poor MSU play and nice UofL defense forcing the poor MSU play.

Could be a fun year.
