Yes, that was Mike Lawson, I believe he may have won 7 or 8 games in a season.

Looking back at the records the only real success they've had came in three different seasons - 1995, 1998, and 2007. Outside of those seasons, Marshall County has only won a playoff game three times.

 

In those seasons:

 

-1995: (9-5); beat Central Hardin, North Hardin, Nelson County; lost to St. Xavier (21-0) in AAAA state semifinals

 

-1998: (11-2); beat Shelby County, North Hardin; lost to Nelson County (21-7) in AAAA regional final

 

-2007: (9-4); beat Henderson County, Daviess County; lost to St. Xavier (65-0) in 6A regional final

 

So success has certainly been sporadic and being in the far-western big class regional certainly hasn't hurt in the years where they were successful.

Mike Lawson did bring a positive atmosphere with him and a winning record to support it. Its a shame he left.
