I stated before if someone on this year's team decides to step up and be leader for the rest of the team it could be a long season for the Lady Devils.

I would think Coach Doyle can get someone to be a leader for the Lady Devil's.

Bench is the key. Will they have anything to help out once they have to go to their bench.

Our mentality was always, press, press and press and force them to go to their bench because of fatigue or foul trouble. There we felt we had a huge advantage.

If anybody went to any of the games during the summer at Maysville the one thing is fatique was a factor in the first two games, in their games against Lewis Co. and then Ashland they got a big lead and then lost both of those games, then in their last game against Bracken County the Lady Devils trialed the entire game before pulling off a 2 point win over the Lady Bears. I just hope things will turn around for them during this coming season.

Conditioning would help Deming tremendously. You would think Coach Doyle would work on that more. It would really help them, especially on defense

After seeing them some this summer I think bench and conditioning will be a factor. Summertime fatigue is not the same as the regular season. I think their bench is young, but definitely has some talent. .

Bench play is ALWAYS a major concern at a small school like Deming, Augusta, Dayton, etc. You just don't have the numbers w/in the school system to have such a luxury!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It seems to me I watched this same team when they were 7th and 8th graders they were better then now, whether it is a different coach or a new element of some sort comes in whether it's jealousy or a teammate from jr. high isn't playing takes away from the teams style of play.

Some times other distractions are present even at game time, i.e. boyfriends, parents, personel concerns, always a distraction.

Conditioning I agree is the problem with this years Deming squad.

Maybe, these girls as JH players were a bit more mature and physically more gifted than their JH counterparts and that is why they had the success they had. Success at the JH level sometimes, especially w/girls b/c they do mature so much differently than boys, dosn't translate to success at the HS level. Maybe those kids who were behind are now catching up. Did anyone think of that?

The team that is playing now basicly is the team that played then except for 2 players. It seems to me they're not playing with the same team chemistry they had in JH.

True, a lot of players max out in the 8th grade and the late developers start catching up and passing them talentwise. They lose interest in sports and discover boys in that summer between middle school and high school which continues to get worse the older they get. Also, at the HS level the time commitment and what most programs require is very different than what was required at MS level. This is quite a shock to some players and their desire to excel at basketball diminishes. And with girls one of the biggest factors is plain out jealousy of other players that can kill your chemistry in the wink of an eye.
