Clyde
Unless he's playing against your team it seems to me you have to root for this guy. With that said and in 100% hindsight would the Texans be better overall had they taken Andy Dalton instead of JJ Watt? I'm not saying Dalton is a better QB than Watt is as a DE. I'm saying the most important position is what the Titans have lacked and continue to lack. If you could only take one for the Texans which one would you want? Clyde
Watt and it isn't close. Really? Fully realizing Dalton hasn't done anything in the playoffs he still has gotten them TO the playoffs each year. Houston hasn't had a quality QB ever. QB is the most important position, right? You could make an argument that Watt is the best player on the field, offense or defense, on both teams depending on the game. When have you ever been able to say that about Dalton? Matt Schaub was a quality QB, and one that got Houston not only to the playoffs but to the second round of the playoffs multiple times...

When you say "multiple times" you mean twice. That's fine. 2-14 9-7 2-4 since then. Would they be better off today with Dalton vs Watt?

Irrelevant to the discussion. The DE position comes nowhere CLOSE to making an impact on W/L as the QB. JJ Watt is probable HOFer. Not the debate. Clyde
That's just not true. You take Watt off the Texans last season and they maybe win 3 games. Because their QB sucked. Are you saying that Watt wins more games than a quality QB?

I'm saying if you took Watt off the Texans the last 2 seasons and added Dalton, they'd have still missed the postseason both years. Outside of Watt, Clowney (if he's healthy), and Hopkins there is almost no talent in Houston.

Clyde
I posed the question after watching the piece on Watt. Texans are inconsistent to say the least and it starts at QB. Can they get a stud QB, pay Watt, AND get enough other talent?
