Keep spreading that rumor and let me know if anyone actually believes it....

So far I've had '0' takers...

...Say you had a kid already throwing in the upper 80,s/low 90,s. Say a 6,6 kid well built already, possibly not done growing. Has also his delivery down pretty good. I have heard pro and con on this subject. Some say that you dont want to muscle bound a pitcher and some say with the added strength, it might add 3 to 4 mph.....
Another way to possibly add 3-4 mph's, is to "Throw Every Day" and work on strengthening the rotator cuff and muscles around the arm. The bicep tendon, laps under the cuff and the humeral head, can often become irritated. Tears can occur in the glenoid labrum of the shoulder, which are near the bicep muscle tendon.

Continual strengthening of this area, through throwing, stretching and weight-training, can not only build muscle/add strength, but limit arm fatigue and reduce the possibility of injury.

A favorite drill of mine, to add mph's....Bucket Drill. It works on the follow-thru phase of the delivery.

It is for more older and advanced body types and requires a very good leg strength. A good measuring ability, is if a pitcher can bend over and touch his opposite hand to his opposite foot, and remain balanced throughout the entire process, he is strong enough to perform this drill.

To get into proper position, is you are right-handed, place right knee on the ground, onto a bucket elevated object 16- to 24-inches off of the ground. The movement of the arms is the same as a follow-thru.

When the pitch is thrown, the pitcher will stand up of the bucket and rotate over the stride leg, bend his back, and bring the throwing-arm elbow past the opposite knee (follow-thru). This should be one, fluid motion.

Incorporate this drill into his routine and see if it helps any.

Going to guess that you played at one point in time for Brad Shelton?

why yes I did, how on earth did you know?

Just had that feeling when you talked about the cans. That is done religiously with Coach Shelton.
