Just trying to give a little perspective on how to look at.

For perspective, consider that it is harder to win an "All A" state title in a sport than it is to win a football state title. Football divisions have 32-34 teams in each class and the statewide "All A" forums can include up to 125 teams depending on the sport.

The amount of teams does not necessarily equal a strong tournament.

When you have #70 ranked Louisville Collegiate, # 91 Prestonsburg and # 132 Onedida Baptist all in the qt finals of this year's ALL A, hard to argue this was a strong tournament.

I wouldn't know where to find state rankings so help me out. Are those the state rankings for Class A schools? I imagine when you play teams from other areas of the state, their soccer may not be at the same level. Where are NCC, Bishop Brossart, Owensboro Catholic, St. Henry, Danville and Lexington Christian ranked?

#7, #45, #5, #27, #63, and #30 respectively. That is Maher rank across all schools. Not bad competition for smaller schools.

A lot harder to come out on top, and night and day difference/harder to reach the final four of the 16 teams in the State Championship Tournament then it is to come out on top and reach the final four of the 100 some teams in the All A. Harder to win this 16 team tournament then winning one with over a 100 teams, or whatever the All A typically has.

It's all comparative. It looks to me like a tremendous accomplishment for a school with what, 150 girls in the school! Of course it is harder to win the Kentucky State Tournament, all of the teams are included! It appears that you're trying to diminish this accomplishment and the All A in general.

All good points, on Saturday all the games both boys and girls went to PKS to me that's teams that are all very similar in talent. For soccer you have to win your region and have a section before you even go to state.

 

Its like anything else in sports some years the competition is really good at certain times, just like the basketball state tournaments both boys and girls early rounds you will have blow outs.

 

I really wish all the sports would go to classes for selfish reasons because our region is very tough to get out of in all sports and our regional runner ups are better than a lot of teams who make the state tournaments, in my opinion.

You all make valid points, keep in mind the ALL A has sectionals just like baseball and you don't go to state until you win them. strength of schedule well NCC beat 3 teams ranked in the top 20 so I would say that's pretty good competition.

 

I wish all sports went to classes because in our region we have one of the toughest if not they toughest in the state to come out of. A lot of our regional runner ups can beat a lot of teams who win their regionals. I am not taking anything away form those teams that's just my opinion for example boys and girls basketball, on the boys side NCC, Holmes and obviously CovCath could have beaten most teams in the sweet 16, for the girls Highlands, Holmes and again obviously Holy Cross could have done the same but those teams didn't get that chance, again just my opinion.

Not diminishing the accomplishment, beating a good Owensboro Catholic and decent Lexington Christian in semi and final is something to be proud of.

I disagree completely and have given my reasons in the post #21 and #24.

 

Again the ALL A quarter finals had the #70, #91, and #132 ranked teams out of 150 ranked teams, no argument that is weak. And two of the ALL A semi finalist, Murray would be a surprise to even make the quarter finals of the State Championship Tournament and Lexington Christian likely won't even win their region.

All-A Title = great for smaller schools

NCC = a great smaller school

Way to go NCC!

The tournament also included the teams ranked at #7, #45, #5, #27, #63, & #30. So it appears to be a pretty nice tournament to win.

 

I find it amazing what some of the NKY schools are able to do with the limited resources and small student body they have. NCC has only 2 games remaining on their regular season schedule, playing Cooper and ND in the coming week. Both are schools with approximately 4 times the enrollment and I expect the Breds to be very competitive in both.
