South Oldham 35 Oldham County 8

Featured Replies

No surprise here. Oldham will have a few chances to pickup a W with some easier games to end the season. J-Town at home looks to be their best chance.

South Oldham seems to be the favorite in their district.

Both teams got something out of this one.

For Oldham, the Colonels started a rebuilding season with an awfully tough slate of games: Ballard, North Oldham, Shelby County, CAL, and South Oldham. Tough assignment. But Oldham is looking better, and if the offense can find a rhythm - giving the defense a little rest - some more success the second half of the season is possible. Nelson County, North Bullitt, and Jeffersontown, in particular, look beatable. If the Colonels can beat Nelson and North Bullitt, they could still make the playoffs. Next week's home game vs. North Bullitt will be a very tough game - and very important. It's also Homecoming.

For South, this marks the first time South has beaten Oldham five times in a row. (Oldham still leads the all-time series, 16-12). The Dragons, who perhaps should be considered the district favorites, improve to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in district play. It was a great night for senior kicker Drew Koch; with the Colonels' defense giving up a lot of real estate, but stiffening in the red zone, South tried five field goals - and Koch made all five (26, 27, 28, 36, and 43 yards). The Dragons could have let him try for a state-record-tying sixth field goal on the final drive, but opted to run out the clock. (still, five field goals in one game has been equaled by only two kickers, and exceeded only once in KY history. Ballard kicker in 1981 set the state record of six). Senior fullback Shane Wilson - diminutive in size but huge in guts and heart - racked up over 100 yards rushing. South is on the road at Nelson County next week and will be favored.

Congrats to South! Best of luck to both teams next week!

I dont think Oldham is beating anyone in their district except possibly Nelson.
