Pikeville took one on the chin from 3A dynasty Belfry last week. This week looks like good medicine for a full recovery to the winning side of things. South Floyd has one win against a weak schedule. Pikeville is a big favorite in this one. Is there anything South Floyd can do to get the upset? What is their recipe for a win over a formidable Pikeville team?

Pikeville could name the score . No disrespect to South Floyd at all. However, Pikeville will be looking to get back to winning, and giving the young Panthers as much reps as possible. This game will be a good one to give Daric Pugh time to take care of some bangs and bruises. It will also give the young QB Wyatt Battaile an opportunity to hone his skills. Look for Coach Mac to call the Panthers off early.

Id sit Pugh. He wont be needed. With or without him...

South Floyd 12

I could tell in the Belfry game Pugh is still only about 85-90% and his hip is still giving him some issues.

 

Outside of the Hazard and Pike Central games I think you rest him against the District teams of South Floyd, Jenkins, and Phelps. Pikeville could win all three of those games using their JV team.

 

 

If I am Coach Mac I am wearing out some jet sweep, shuffle pass, and dive plays with Charles. Find some ways to manufacture "rushing" offense outside of Pugh. Even if you don't plan on using it anything more than an odd play...make all these teams waste time scouting and practicing those plays.

Daric Pugh, as anyone could see in the Belfry game just didn't have that explosiveness through the hole like he did have. He looked to me like he was a step slower. Not that it would have made a difference in the out come of that game. Imo, he needs to take care of that hip, and prepare for the post season
