Cooper's defense to me has looked solid, led by senior Lance Adams. I believe alot of their struggles have been with the support of their midfield. Most games you don't see this until the 2nd half because of their lack of depth on the bench.

Soccer4Lyfe, I believe the comments were Ryle has yet to play at Conner, and has Boone at home, these are scheduled over the next 2 weeks. I think you are speaking of Conner playing at Boone last week?

 

As for the most competitive district, this might be the only one where the regular season matches actually matter. Half of the other teams going to Regionals have already been determined.

And I seem to recall you mentioning on here about going to watch some of these 4 teams' games. No question your alliance and rightfully so is with Cooper, but you are a fair observer. Without putting you on the spot and if not asking to much, I would enjoy your (and anyone else's) thoughts at this point in the season on how you might see the District playing out. A prediction on the District tournament lineup and outcome.

I am sure this could be accomplished, below are my terms....

 

- I would like to collaborate with my friend District friend Oldgrappler.

- OTB would be brought into the mix to provide an unbiased perspective.

- We would meet at Montgomery Inn so it was centrally located.

- Oh, almost forgot about the expense account.

The bolded is probably the biggest factor.... by far.

 

All 4 defenders did return this season and one of them has been moved around, he has spent the majority of his time playing offense this season. There have been 2 players that have been part of the mix with the other 3 returning players on the back line, it appears that the coaches are still tinkering a little.

 

The goalie for Cooper stepped into what I call a no-win situation this year and has done well, not really fair to draw any comparisons.

Cooper returned all 4 of the defenders, granted one is not playing on the back line, but having 3 experienced backs return is a luxury many goalies don't have.

Although I would be very hesitant to use "no win situation" when describing youth sports, IMO a no win situation for a keeper might be one where 3 of his starting defensive backs go down with prolonged injuries.

Describing a situation as a "no win situation", IMO does the player(s) involved no good. Sports help kids deal with life's adversities, giving them an excuse to fail helps no one.

Yes, this is where I was going with my comment. In fact, they have been spoiled for a few years, goalie was never a concern in all the time my son has been at Cooper.

Good to hear and it appears he is filling those shoes to the best of his abilities. Another advantage of following in the steps of a really good player, it motivates the next line of players to get better.

Same advantage is awarded to the top programs. Upcoming underclassmen witness the success of the upperclassmen and feel they must uphold that level of success, great motivator.
