Letcher Central finally breaks through with their boys program. After disappointing seasons in football and basketball, the baseball team saves the day and prevents a titleless year in boys sports. Congratulations to the team. They have much to proud of, especially since they have had to play on the road all year. That is a lot to ask of any team. Hopefully their new "state of the art" facility will be ready by next season.

Congratulations to Coach Dean, his staff and players. Great Job!! Coach Dean is a great person and great coach and will have LCC ready each year. Good Luck the rest of the way and for the years to follow.

I thought the wrestling team did an excellent job. Not just for a first year team either.

congrats the LCC...looks like they are ready for regional play...it's going to be a close regional tournament, can't wait to see who turns out on top...

How many wins does Letcher have against teams with winning records?

I believe the wrestling Coach has done the best job. Taking kids that have never wrestled to state. Job well done. I met Coach Dean a few weeks ago and what a class act he is. Congrats to LCC and good luck in the regional touranment...

Coach Dean and his Cougars still finished the season 18-13, and won their district by outscoring their opponents 25-2 in the two games. Also, many of their losses were to pretty tough outside-the-region opponents, such as Lafayette, Scott County, Boyd County, Madison Central, and Pikeville, while some of their local losses were to solid competition in Leslie County, Lee County, Powell County, Perry Central, and Estill County.

IMO, LCC is a dangerous team in the 14th regional tournament, and not too many teams will approach a game with them with an attitude of "good draw....they haven't beaten many teams with a winning record".

I don't believe the winner or loser of the 54th and 56th would mind playing LCC. I know they can't play the winners but either loser would have to like their chances. I am not trying to bash any team. I just think their wins have come against some very weak teams this year. They did play 2 solid games against Lee and Estill when I saw them at Lee.
