Purples win JV, 6 to 3

Don't know about "video game stats" but he did look impressive after that first series of getting the jitters out. With a struggling couple of positions at o-line Payne had to scramble every once a while and made a couple poor mistakes. While in the pocket, he made some good decisions to put the ball in good playmaker hands in open field. RB Jamale Carothers looked very impressive as he ran the ball well and had great after catch evading. Returning TE Dane Drobocky sat out today undressed; while backup Garrett Strictler took the ropes and snagged a few catches. Defensive wise, the DB core for the purples looks very solid. Tre Boards and Griffin Cline both came away with interceptions. The defensive line could use slight improvements as expected but linebackers Andrew Spader and Jake Bush both came up with smart and impressive plays to take care of the Crimson run game.

Coaches will post stats soon. I still think Payne (Purples QB) had a great statistical game. I'll post when I receive them. Remember, only 3 quarters of play as well.

BG will once again challenge for a title. Owensboro and Christian will both be a tough challenge to even get there though..

Yup, 5A looks wide open this year. So many strong contenders.

Clark Payne, BG QB, was 12 of 18, 194 yards with three touchdowns. 3 quarters of play. Avoided several sacks and had great awareness in the pocket. Should continue to improve.

 

I have hyped our backfield all pre-season, rightfully so, but Deangelo Wilson is going to cause lots of problems for many opponents this year.
