St. Henry 1 - Beechwood 0 and Conner 2 - NCC 0

 

I feel both Conner and St. Hanks have strong teams but based on the records of all teams involved, these would be upsets.

By the records, yes.

 

I'd say SHDHS is more of an upset than Conner.

 

Should make for an interesting 33rd.

I've picked them from the beginning as one of the 3 that can win it. I see nothing to make me change my mind(other than the Cougars hitting their stride at the right time;) ).

Ryle definetly has the talent and is playing their best ball right now, but I just dont think they have the pitching to win it all...dont get me wrong, they are a solid ALL AROUND team with great pitching but i feel Beechwood is the top team when they're on their game. They dominated Covcath for five innings and then let up for whatever reason...and they also beat Ryle. I just dont see them losing come tournament time. Curley hasn't even pitched his best game yet. But with the way things have gone this year you never know.

 

But first Beechwood has to get by Holmes in the first round of districts

Actually I think pitching is going to be an advantage for Ryle in a post game series. Coach Roesel has developed five strong pitchers All with some quality wins. They are not well known because this is their first year of varsity ball.

 

And the difference in the Beechwood game one swing of Curleys' bat, which I doubt will hapen if the two teams are fortunate enough to meet again.

Yet another sign that the 9th is wide open for anyone this year. My picks to come out of the 9th are Ryle and Beechwood. But I wouldnt be surprised at all if SK, Conner, St Henry, Holy Cross or any of the like made a run and came out on top. Its truly anyones shot this year.

You are exactly right. The pitch he hit out against Ryle was down and in and Chris went down and musceled it. From what I understand, the young pitcher got a pretty good chewing on that one.

True, Ryle does have five strong pitchers, but they dont have that one dominating pitcher that can go out and beat ANY team they face like Curley. Im not saying that Ryle's pitchers can't get it done, because they definetly have a solid enough staff, but its going to take the offense of the raiders to produce also which against Curley or even Muth/ Moore for that matter doesn't come easy. Right now it's wide open with Beechwood having that slight advantage simply because of that Curley factor.

 

If you wanna beat Beechwood, dont pitch to Curley...simply put...make the others around him beat you because he has game breaker capabilities every time he comes to the plate.
