RYLE 8 NCC 1

Featured Replies

Another quality win for the Raiders heading down the strech and another quality win for Hatty, who went 6 and probably gave up 2 or 3 hits, and a nice close for Wies, who came in to close in the 7th and tossed 3 ground balls. Seems like just about every Raider had at least 1 hit tonight.

Both defenses played well, probably 1 error each.

Neither team scorched the ball consistently today. Ryle benefitted from some timely hitting from Robert Layne, Rainer Oliver and Jerrod Babik as the Raiders bunched together some walks and key hits to break open a 1-1 game. I think that the Raiders only had 5 hits and NC probably only had 3. Very good win for Ryle with two good teams hooking up. Jeff Hatfield had a nasty knuckle curve and pitched well with no earned runs over 6 innings to pick up another win.

I don't know about quality NCC is pretty down this year. Ryle keeps putting up wins and showing that they are a top 3 team IMO in the region.

Crossbar -the Enquirer had NCC splitting a doubleheader with PRP on Sat. they have 19 wins.

NCC just got done beating PRP, one of the top few teams in the state. They have 20 wins and are a solid team. I call this a quality win vs. a good team.

Like I said before, in my honest opinion, Ryle is one of three teams in N.ky who could win the region, and maybe the State. Beechwood, Ryle, and Cov. Cath. That doesn't mean any of them will even come out of the 9th, just that those three have the best chance to make more noise in the Sec./ St.

Again, just my opinion. Heck in the 9th tourny you never know who may come out. The unusual thing about this year is, one of the top 3-4 teams wont even make the regionals. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Holy Cross and CC meet in the 1st round of districts?

NCC has the third most wins behind Beechwood and Ryle and just beat the number 4 team in the state over the weekend, I would call it a quality win just as I would call Boones' win over CCH last night a quality win for Boone even though CCH is having a down year.

Indeed they do. Tough break for both teams. IMO Holy Cross should have gotten the one seed though since they didnt use any illegal pitchers and force CC and B'Wood to play again in districts, but thats just my opinion.

But to the thread, this is a very nice win for Ryle and by a convincing margin. NCC is a very solid team and for Ryle to put up a 7 run W over them is impressive. Good luck to both teams with districts coming up :thumb:
