Congrats to the best coach in the state! And congrats to the Breds, it may be a lil watered down this year, but so is the whole state!

Who would have thought after losing 9 seniors and 2 players who were expected to start this year that Harrison County would be 20-4? Hats off for a job well done.

With all due respect to Coach Whitaker, best coach in the state may be a little strong given the level of play and tenure of some other top programs as well - top 5 definitely.

That's quite an accomplishmment by Coach Whitaker and his staff. :thumb:

Coach Krumpelbeck at CovCath and PRP's coach (forget his name) are two that come to mind right away.

Harrison County has 3 State Championships, 26 straight 20 win seasons. PRP has won 3 State Titles under Coach Bill Miller, but have lost 10 of 11 times when playing Harrison head to head. Cov Cath is no where near the consistant program despite one really good year.

Once again no offense to Coach Whitaker but season records don't exactly show the caliber of great coaching. Many teams have great coaching but just dont have the caliber of players to put up 20 win seasons year in and year out. The number of state championships and 20 win seasons is very evident at the quality of athletes. There are many great coaches in Kentucky, there is no doubt about that, but the ones that always get the most recognition are the ones with the great athletes to accomodate.

CovCath has won 20+ games for over 20 years as well. No doubt, Harrison County and Coach Whitaker are right there every year. LexCath isn't shabby either over the last 20 years. We'll just agree to disagree and leave it at that.:jump:

Yet in all of the schools that are mentioned, Harrison is the only school from a rural community...because Cynthiana is no where near the size of Covington, Lexington, or Louisville.

Harrison had a pretty weak schedule this year for them.To get 20 wins is great.To bad they didn't get to play last week at Applebees,one of the few tough games they had on their schedule.

I agree, they have had some of their tougher games rained out. This week could be a good test for them with Scott, Newport Central Catholic, Tates Creek, Scott County, and someone else.
