Kyle Gullett has left Transylvania

Featured Replies

2015 15th Region POY and former Johnson Central High School Standout Kyle Gullett (6'7'' SF) has decommitted from Transylvania University and is headed to Southeast Missouri State (Division 1 - OVC) where he will play for former Mississippi State Head Coach Rick Ray. Nothing official yet, but this comes from credible sources. Add another Division 1 hoops athlete from the state of KY. Congratulations Kyle and good luck! Hope to see you in the NCAA tournament one day as your game will fit well at SEMO!

WOW,,,D3 to D1.....

Kyle did have a few D1 offers but elected to go to Transy for their engineeing pathway (He graduated 4.0 non weighted, 33 on ACT, #1 in class). He will have a chance to earn playing time right away so its not as crazy a jump as it might seem.

He was going to go there because they have pre-engineering?

He was going to go there for academics as they have strong mathematics, drafting, etc. classes and a good track record at putting undergrads into engineering programs (they are very strong in many aspects such as this). If you havent guessed yet, he has aspirations to become an engineer and the academics to do it. Basketball prowess was second on his school selection, but I suppose SEMO convinced him otherwise. Regardless of where he goes, he will likely be full or close to full scholarship simply based on academics.

In actuality there is no such degree as Pre-Medicine, Pre-Law, Pre-Engineering, etc. just a series of courses and preparation that increase the likelyhood of students being accepted into a graduate program (its a promotion tool for colleges). Most of the programs, however, do lead to a BS, BA, etc. in a related field.

So to answer your question, Kyle did select Transy based on his future plans to be an engineer and I simply stated it as "Pre-Engineering" under the assumption most knew what that entailed. Apologies for any confusion.
