June 30, 201511 yr Happened to me this weekend, as I'm sure it has many prior visitors to Lake Cumberland: "Blew out my flip-flop Stepped on a pop top Cut my heel Had to cruise on back home." Only difference in this case is the culprit was some shale rock that sliced me good. About an inch and a half long — fortunately it didn't go too deep, but it did bleed a fair amount. Hope nobody got a picture of my on my hands and knees trying to scrub the blood stains out of the carpet before they set in. Another recommendation: Don't try to catch beers on the fly from 35 feet away while you're floating in the water. Got a nice little cut from that as well. Had to put my Boy Scout first aid training to work on myself this weekend and for the next few days. At least now I'm home and I've got actual rubbing alcohol to clean wounds with instead of the cheap, peach-infused vodka I was sipping on this weekend. I think the longest-lasting wounds will come from the bro-country assault on my eardrums and sanity I had to endure. And it was still a great weekend!
June 30, 201511 yr Author If I had to listen to Bro-Country I'd have been looking to cut myself too! It seems like every boat tied off in the Harmon's Creek area is only allowed to play a mix of bro-country, Eagles, Hank Jr., Kid Rock, hip-hop and dance club bangers, Brian Johnson-only AC/DC with the atrociously-bad "Thunderstruck" getting the most spins. Real lowest common denominator stuff. Also sadly, I only heard the OCMS "Wagon Wheel" once, and that was in my car on the way down. Hootie's version seems to have officially replaced it, for the worst. I did hear "Earl Had To Die" a few times. Weirdly enough, mostly coming from the boat of a bachelor party out of Cincy that almost certainly has a full wardrobe of "Tap-Out" shirts at home, given their predilection for drunken late-night MMA grappling. Go figure. My crew is big on the bro-country garbage as well — bless their hearts — but fortunately they felt enough pity on me to toss in some old-school stuff as well to help keep my griping in check. They may be finally coming around to the fact that I'm a pretty good guy who just has differing opinions on what constitutes a great tune. I need to invest in some good noise-cancelling earplugs for next year, because I can't wait to go back.
June 30, 201511 yr We have 90 days of Complimentary Sirius with vehicle purchase and I've been wearing out the 70's channel...wife and daughter are all about current pop stuff. It is a near stand off with current country as for which is worse...IMO

July 1, 201511 yr Author I'm going insane from this awful earworm infestation of bro-country that has invaded my brain. Can't. Get. It. Out.
