May 30, 201511 yr Missouri’s Gary Pinkel was expected to be at his Mid-American Conference Hall of Fame induction last night in Cleveland, but complications with a plane left him stuck at the SEC Spring Meetings in Sandestin. He tried several last-minute flights with nearby charter companies to no avail. Insert John Calipari and Mark Stoops. The two Kentucky coaches offered Pinkel a ride on their jet, so Pinkel could make it to the event he was dying to attend. He accepted, and took the jet on to Cleveland and then home to Missouri after dropping Calipari and Stoops in Lexington. “Both those guys said, ‘Let’s just go to Cleveland and drop Coach off first,’ ” Pinkel said. “There were so many storms here, it didn’t work. Nice people.” Pinkel made it on time to the ceremony and told the audience, “It’s a miracle. I really wanted to be here.” I don’t know if Pinkel has plans to repay UK for the generosity, but a forfeit on September 26 will more than make up for the plane ride.
