5-2 in 26 ins, with 53 k`s . that's 2k`s a inning. Is that a typo? 5-2 is 7 games would be 49 innings, not counting 10 run rule. Not saying I don't believe this, but the numbers just don't look right. Why I ask if typo. A .088 era and 2k`s a inning , would think he would have more innings. Hope the kid keeps it up. May Greenup Co and Ohio Co will meet up or play in a tourney sometime. Would be some good young talent.

Not a typo at all....averages 2K per inning. His ERA is around 2.50. The .088 is the opposing hitters batting average against him. He hash"t thrown any complete games....has had some control issues...27 walks. His losses were to North Bullitt and Riverdale Baptist ((Maryland). Sounds like some excellent talent in Greenup Co....

Greenup Co has 2 very good Freshmen in Gage Hughes and Kyle Gammons. They play SS and 2B respectively so the middle infield for GC will be solid for the next 3 years. Both have great range, only a handful of errors each and well above average arms for Freshmen.

Gammons hits in the lead off spot. He hits the ball well to all fields, has a very high on-base percentage and has tremendous speed with several stolen bases and runs scored. Hughes bats in the 3 spot, he's a switch hitter, has a high batting average (upper .300's), leads the team in RBI's and rarely strikes out.

Gammons also has become a go to guy late in games as a closer for GC. I believe he finished regular season with a 4-0 record with 4 saves this year. Hughes hasn't pitched much this year but when he has he's done well also with a low to mid 80's fastball.

Keep an eye out on these two in the near future as they are both having a lot of success as Freshmen while playing one of the toughest schedules of any team in the state.

Gage Hughes , 36 games - 130 AB , 398 AVG, 5 K`s and 28 RBI. Hope to get Gammon`s numbers soon.

Not saying ,they are not true. My thing is 26 inns, 2k a inn , and 27 walks. opp ba 088 but era 2.55. So if your striking out 2 a inn only walking 1 ,and giving up a hit every 11-12 batters , how do you get a ERA over 2.50 . And ever get a (L). You said control , but if your striking everybody out , and only giving up a walk a inn. Doesn't seem to me a control problem. This is what I cant figure out. too me the numbers don't add up right. Maybe its just me?

The ERA mostly comes from runners he walked....and then scored when he was relieved.....still his runs. A few earned runs from base hits off of him. For example, against North Bullitt, he was relieved with the bases loaded.....they all scored and were charged to him even though he was relieved on the mound...which is correct. He put em on base and they are his. Got beat 5-2 and 4 of the runs were charged to him. I have seen many pitchers throw that well and get the loss. Like I said, the stats are posted, and they do add up. On average, yes...2k and 1 walk, but that's only an average....if walks come in multiples....most often earned runs follow....and thus ERA without being hit much.

Thanks, hope he gets his control figured out. With 3 years left , I'm sure he will. Does he play summer baseball ?

Yes. The last two years he has played for Owensboro-Daviess Co Base Ruth and they won the state championship both years and runner-up in the Regional both years. This summer he his playing with them and a showcase travel team as well. Best of luck to you all, and hope to see ya down the baseball road. Take care.
