March 29, 201511 yr ROUGE, La. -- After Riley Mahan belted a pinch-hit, inside-the-park homer with two outs in the ninth inning to tie the game, Greg Fettes ripped a solo home run to open the 11th inning, lifting Kentucky to a wild 12-10 win over No. 1 LSU in the series rubber match, on Sunday afternoon in front of 10,732 at Alex Box Stadium. The series win marks Kentucky's second all-time series win at LSU and UK's first since 2007. UK entered the weekend having had only seven wins in program history in Baton Rouge and the Tigers owning a seven-game winning streak in Alex Box vs. the Wildcats. UK posted a 6-5 win in the opener in 12 innings, before LSU had an inside-the-park homer in the eighth inning to win the second game, 7-3.
March 29, 201511 yr Author I definitely did not expect this. Ladies and Gentlemen, we have ourselves a Baseball Team.
March 30, 201511 yr I definitely did not expect this. Ladies and Gentlemen, we have ourselves a Baseball Team. They win a big series every year. They also lose regular season games to teams like Ohio U. and Morehead way too often for my liking. I suspect as always, Henderson will have them in the 8-12 range in the SEC, but never quite good enough. As a UK baseball fan, however, I hope I'm wrong!
March 30, 201511 yr I saw from the 8th inning through the 10th inning. Major brain lock by the LSU LFer trying to make a diving catch on a dying quail down the line. No one on. Two out. Let it drop and hold the guy to two bases max. Instead, UK tied it up. Two nice weekend series wins for UK the 10 days or so.
