Speculation on who it's gonna be?

Allen or Slaughter would be the 2 front runners. Should be a close race. I hope that Walt Allen wins it. Laurel County has never had a Mr Basketball. Had a runnerup and a Miss Basketball, but not a Mr!

I too would like to see Walt Allen get it. From everything that I've heard he's not only a really good basketball player but an exceptional young man off the court as well. I'd LOVE to see him play Saturday in the KY/OH All-Star Game.

Yep. She was also not bad too look at!!! Named by a sports magazine as the top HS girls player in the country. I cannot remember which magazine as it was 26 years ago, but it was a national magazine and she was on the cover.

There is an interesting story of how she ended up at Laurel Co. instead of at Corbin where her older sister attended. Corbin's loss was Laurel Co.'s gain though and she and many others made Laurel Co. the dominanat girl's program in the state for many years.
