SportsGuy41017
I just saw this video on the UFC On Fox Facebook page and looking for something in print. From the video: On 19 occasions, fighters were subjected to out-of competition PED test. 5 fighters tested positive (26.3%). UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta: " We want 100% of the fighters tested the night they compete in competition...if there's additional costs associated with that, we will pay for any additional cost required." SportsGuy41017
It's about time! I think they should test all fighters about a week out from the fight. Can they speed up on getting the results? If, so, if they fail the test the week before, they should not fight that weekend, get a lose, and at least a one year ban. theguru
UFC needs to be careful it doesn't implode. They should be looking at boxing (corruption) and many other sports (performance enhancing drugs) as models of what to avoid.
SportsGuy41017
"In a landmark move, the UFC has announced a multimillion-dollar anti-doping plan, including year-round drug-testing of its entire roster, effective July 1. UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta announced the promotion's intentions during a news conference Wednesday. The news came less than one month after one of the sport's most successful athletes, Anderson Silva, failed multiple drug tests in relation to a non-title bout at UFC 183 on Jan. 31. In addition to random year-round testing, which will be conducted by an independent anti-doping agency, the UFC will advocate to athletic commissions for more fight-night drug tests and enhanced random testing ahead of every main event and championship fight." SportsGuy41017
How many top fighters will be in trouble if all were tested today? Since they will begin this in July, it should be enough time for a fighter to get it out of his system.
