A friend of mine ask one of the Raceland coaches about this and was told they had not heard anything about it?

This is great and is this going to be a yearly event? Will be good for the kids. They have played each other for years coming up thru league ball and it will be good for them to play together. Cause friendship last a life time. Coach Tackett is a great pick for this. His heart is in the right direction. Is there a set number from each school for this or just all Seniors that have played and that want to? This will be a big task for Chad and his asst. But this is a great thing. What about the players that have sign to play somewhere in college. Are there any stipulations.

What kids from Russell (AA State Champs 2006)are playing. You didn't think I would leave that out !!!!!!!!!!

Here are the names of the Russell players that I have heard are going to play.

Drew Mell OL/DL Russell

Michael Horn RB/DB Russell

Derrick Timerlake LB Russell

Michael Shaffer OL/DL Russell

The game is scheduled for June 9th – just a few weeks away. Anybody seen the complete roster yet?

The rosters that I posted can’t really “firm up” until practice begins and the coaches see who shows up. But, they are a start – and good enough for discussion purposes.

Both teams seem to have talent. I think this should be a fun game for the players.

I will be attending this game for sure.

Who decided how many players from each team will be invited? I think they should have invited a few more Ashland players imo.

Graybeard, do you know if Ian will be playing or not?

The head coach from each team nominated their own players for the game. It was up to the kids to accept the invitation or not. Tyler Reliford was nominated, but could not play due to a vacation.

Some teams have more kids represented due to the fact that several players who originally got an invitation could not play for various reasons. Therefore, the coaches in the area were asked to nominate more kids in order to fill a team.

If there are kids who were left off the list, that you fill should be on the list, then the issue should be taken up with their H.S. coach, they were the ones responsible for getting the kids nominated. There was not a selection committee or selection process for picking players. Any kid nominated got an invitation. The best thing to do was to let the area coaches decide who they felt should have a chance to play in the game from their own team, considering they know their players the best.

Several kids could not play due to jobs, vacations, etc...

Hope this helps.

Yes, Ian is on the team. He is looking forward to having the chance to play with these guys – many of which have always been opponents. It should be fun to be on the same side for a change.
