Jim Schue Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 South Laurel's Walt Allen was voted POY, E-town's James Haire voted COY. Congratulations to those so honored. H-L All-State
catsin05 Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 I know I am being biased but I thought that Pat Elliot should have at least made the 2nd team.
sweet16 Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 It is a good thing that most ballots were in before the state tournament. Allen would have made the team but I don't know if he would have received POY.

His 15 pts 8 rebs per came on a team with four players capable of 20+ a night, and his teammates' solid seasons would not have been what they were if other teams had not been focusing on Allen. And it doesn't show in the stat sheets always the impact he has elsewhere in terms of defense and court smarts, passing, etc. He may not be the most talented player, but there's no better team player and ambassador for the game in the state.

I agree with you but I have seen performances at Rupp make or break players. His performance last year made him a front runner for Mr. Basketball this year.
Wireman Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I guess Antonio Owens was a decent player afterall.
