Theoldguy Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 CovCath won with some timely hitting and with the Crusaders inability to field a bunted ball on the third base side.... Four times in the top of the sixth inning alone, St. Henry couldn't field the bunted ball, that was meant to be a sacrifice to move the runner up, helping CovCath put up four runs. Again was very impressed with #22 the CovCath catcher. He calls a great game. Also a tip of the hat also goes to the CovCath third baseball, he made two real nice stops and throws. While the CovCath pitcher was only hit hard in the bottom of the fourth, his fielder were at the right spot at the right time all day. Good win for the Colonels on a great day to watch a ball game.....
Champs05 Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Cov Cath played very well today, going againist what i believe is St. Henry's ace, Shanks. Cov Cath wins the Knochelmann tournament on this win also.
ColonelCrazy Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Is Farrel the catcher for CCH? 2 impressive outings for the Colonels, winning 10-0 & 7-0. Sounds like they're playing well. Note: If you cannot field a bunt, you will NOT beat Cov Cath.
Theoldguy Posted April 9, 2006 Author Posted April 9, 2006 Farrell? Glad to know his name.... He does a good job of moving his body and glove to give his pitcher a good target, to throw the ball to. He also blocks the balls thrown into the dirt very well, and keeps his pitchers head into the game. My guess is that the CovCath pitchers love to throw to him. He needs to work on his throwing mechanics, as during infield practice prior to the game, his throws to second base, always seemed high. IMO, he was trying to throw the ball too hard, and was just releasing it to high. He has very good foot work behind the plate, and just needs to remember that the pitcher is the one who the runners steal on, not the catcher.....

His throws to 2nd on steals in the games I have witnessed have been seeds.
Champs05 Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 i believe that covcath has only given up 2 earned runs in 32 innings,... pretty impressive
