Bullitt East 66 Jeffersontown 58

Featured Replies

Jared Farris led BE with 23 and Tyler Sharpe added 17 in a 66-58 win over JTown last night. Brandon Johnson led JTown with 37 points on 11-21 shooting.

East clinched 1seed with win. Johnson is the best natural shooter around too bad he doesn't get team mates involved more.

Not sure how many times you have watched JTown this season but ive been to all but 2 games. Johnson usally gets 3 or 4 assists per game but last night he had to look for his shot because no one else on the team could score. There have been a lot of games like that this season.

Not that I have seen every team out there, but Johnson and Peyton Woods of Wayne Co.are the two best shooters i have seen this year!

"MTN BBALL" says Johnson should get his team more involved.... He must not have seen the kid or team play. He is not the point guard on this team, he is probably the tallest person on the team. He is just playing his game, not forcing his shot. When Jtown runs sets, they are mainly for Johnson but he know how to find the open man if needed. He is shooting nearly 45% in 3s and now is getting to the basket because of his outside shooting. Johnson is basically playing the role Jtown needs him to play. The only returning starter of maybe 2/3 others that should be playing on the Varsity level. The season isn't going the way he expected his Senior season at Jtown would be but know owns Jtown records on 3s per career, and is climbing KY record of 3s per career. Plus he has opportunities to further his career at the next level (which would be a goal accomplished).

Plus if you seem him on the AAU circuit with TheVille 2015, you would have seen he is a team player to the max, and playing with Jtown is no different.

I've watched Brandon play both HS and AAU (love his game) My remark is in reference to being a Sr. leader I thought he would step up and get them more involved. Definitely can tell your of an AAU mind set worried with personal numbers and records. I'd rather go out as a winner than a record holder.

What kind of college offers does Johnson have?

I believe he is doing everything coach Moody is asking of him... Haters are going to hate no matter what a kid does.

AAU mindset would have had him playing with another high profiled team his Sr. year instead of staying at Jtown. Instead he has played where he started his career and is working towards team & personal goals. It is easy to sit behind a profile & criticize but you truly don't know much about his/Jtown situation.

Then Coach Moody needs fired for putting all his eggs in 1 basket. No hate here just honest opinion!!

What if no one else can score consistently? If you have a great offensive player what coach wouldn't run everything through him? Trust a SR to make the right choices. To fire a guy for having one really good player and running things through him when he does not have a ton of talent around him is ridiculous.

How does a coach build a foundation for upcoming seasons by riding the same player night after night and not teaching his other kids how to score consistently. If it's broke fix it and 5-16 is BROKE !!

You roll with what you have cause tournament time is coming.... They have played everyone in their district close and can make some noise in district & possibly region. It is easy to talk about what needs to be done or changed. But for now, Jtown is doing the best they can with what they have. And I am sure the administration is fully behind the coach.

I have watched JTown several times and Brandon is just in a bad spot for his senior season because he lacks any supporting cast. On surface it is easy to suggest more kids need to be involved and the staff needs to develop them, but with the roster that is easier said than done. If you forced that now, the team would not win any more games. If you turn to Johnson and tell the other kids that we are going to ride him as far as he takes us it gives the best chance to win games.

If I am an opposing coach and have to play JTown, I can only hope they will try to run a balanced offense with everyone getting shot opportunities. They would be fairly easy to shut down. If I have to stop and contain Johnson who has a free reign to take as many shots as possible it will require a major defensive effort to slow him down. He is good as you get scoring on this HS level, and he is a great team player when he is on a team with talent around him.

GO HARD anx 6th region guy hit the nail on the head. Johnson doesnt have a supporting cast. No disrespect towards any of the other players they just dont have experience. Johnson shoots a lot and the coach runs plays through him because be has to. If he didnt they wouldnt score. Period.

Johnson is both a record holder and a winner. His HS team may be struggling but lets not forget he averaged 15 ppg on an aau team that won aau nationals. He is without question the ultimate team player. He does what he has to to win. Whether its by scoring 35 or 18 and getting others involved.
